1856 N-3 R1 Italic 5 AU50. Mint state sharpness but there is dull dent on the right side of the wreath that affects the E in ONE and T in CENT. In addition there is a faint puff of very fine carbon in the field at the tip of the nose and a speck of greenish verdigris on the first lower leaf left of the wreath ribbon. A light rim bruise over the E in AMERICA rounds out the defects on an otherwise sharp, attractive cent. Lustrous steel brown and light chocolate. LDS, die state g, with two die cracks on the reverse and a rim cud from star 12 to star 13. Not in the overall condition census for the variety but CC#6 of those known with the rim cud. Estimated Value $200-UP. Ex 2011 EAC Sale, McCawley & Grellman Auctions 5/14/2011:567-Doug Durasoff. Categories: Liberty Cents
