1 Cent    (sold for $320.0)

1854 N-14 R2 PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Repunched 4. Lustrous steel brown and light chocolate. Satiny and attractive. The only notable marks are a carbon spot at the upper right point of star 1 and another hidden in the dentils at the bottom of the reverse. E-MDS, die state a late. The repunching inside the triangle of the 4 remains clear as the fields begin to develop radial die flowlines. The die lines over NI in UNITED are dull but visible. Our grade is MS60. Not in the overall condition census for the variety but tied for CC#1 of die state a. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 1; 1 finer in 65BN. Estimated Value $300-UP. Ex R. S. Brown, Jr., McCawley & Grellman Auctions 1/7/95:719. Categories:
