1848 N-29 R3 PCGS graded MS64 Brown. The obverse is lustrous bluish steel and olive with at least 5% of the mint red remaining. The reverse is lustrous bright mint red fading to steel and olive brown on the devices, nearly half the original color showing. The only defects, and they are trivial, are a few microscopic ticks on the chin, a speck of dark toning in the dentils under the second 8, and another inconspicuous spot nestled against the berry under the C in CENT. Great eye appeal for the grade. E-MDS, die state a, before the tiny rim cud break above star 8. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#1 in the Grellman census. And it comes with an outstanding provenance for a late date large cent. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 2; none finer at PCGS in BN. Estimated Value $400-UP. Ex Henry C.
