The inner part also features the name 'RHEINLAND-PFALZ' and the issuing country's code 'D' at the bottom. The mint mark of the respective mint ('A', 'D', 'F', 'G' or 'J') appears at the left and the year '2017' appears at the top. At the right, the initials of the designer 'CH' (Chocola Frantisek). The coin's outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European flag. Lettering: 2017 A ch RHEINLAND-PFALZ D Translation: 2017 A ch RHEINLAND-PFALZ D Engraver: Chocola Frantisek Reverse A map, next to the facial value, shows the European continent without borders. Lettering: 2 EURO LL Engraver: Luc Luycx Luc Luycx is the designer of the common side of the euro coins. Luycx is a computer engineer, and medallist living in Dendermonde, Belgium, and has worked for the Royal Belgian Mint for 15 years. He designed the euro coins in 1996.
