1 Dollar    (sold for $650.0)

1889-CC. PCGS graded Fine-12. Mostly untoned. Popular CC mint key date, only 350,000 were minted. The Carson Mint had been shuttered ever since 1885. The Mint reopened un the summer of 1889, and when Morgan dollar production resumed in October that year, production totaled 100,000 per month in October and November, and a final 150,000 pieces coined in December. According to Rusty Goe in his highly readable and informative history of the Carson City Mint, "The Mint on Carson Street", a number of these were later melted: "approximately 250,000 to 325,000 1889-CC silver dollars were eventually melted, securing this date as one of the keys to the set of Morgan dollars." (PCGS # 7190) . Estimated Value $700 - 725. Categories: Morgan Dollars
