Although this is by far the most commonly found 1806 Capped Bust, Large Eagle fie, and also the most seen variety amopng all the Draped Bust coins, it remains as the only die variety with the Round or Knobbed top 6 in the date. Dannreuther places the rarity at R-2, implying that 600 to 900 are known; in the 1990-2005 period covered by his Auction Appearances data, 323 were auctioned. Stars are layed out 7 + 6, which is key, as the only use of this obverse. The reverse is carried over from BD-5, one of the Pointed 6 varieties. Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,500. Categories: $5 Gold
