1900 Lafayette Dollar. PCGS graded MS-64. Nicely toned on both sides. This is a nearly blemish-free case in point of the desirable Lafayette Silver Dollar Commemorative in this grade: satiny white in color under the modest toning, with mint bloom that captures the full effect of the careful preservation since it was made. The portraits are of Generals George Washington and Marquis de Lafayette, the latter a French aristocrat and adventurer who provided major support for the Americans in the Revolutionary War. The wealthy French citizen came to America to support the Revolution. He befriended General Washington and was with him at Valley Forge (PCGS # 9222) . Estimated Value $1,700 - 1,800.
