1868. PCGS graded Proof 67. Wonderful rainbow toning. Only 600 minted. A riveting example of this always-popular Type 3 design (issued from 1859 to 1873). This sparkling Superb Proof example is well toned and very carefully struck. Broadly and clearly defined on the legends and main device, which is unusual, with extra detail at the star and C III centers. The primary toning hues consist of blues and golds with some magenta edging in here and there, much that is iridescent with sparkling color cascades. Pop 3; none finer at PCGS (PCGS # 3718) .
