Overstruck on uncertain European Taler, remnants of the host clear. Russia’s first Roubles, the issues of 1704 and 1705, were overstruck on European crowns. A careful effort, though, was made to obliterate the host and carefully strike up the new coins designs. Thus finding a 1704 Rouble with remnants of the host coin is a very rare event.
