1860 Indian Head Cent. NGC graded Proof 64. Nice golden color. Only 1,000 minted in Proof and this lovely PR64 specimen is spot-free, razor-sharp, and indeed all that it is supposed to be and then some! Pop 18; 28 finer. Note; The shield adopted for 1860 and used on the coin until 1909 is simple in design - 13 vertical stripes, or the paleways, surmounted by a set of horizontal lines, or chief. The ornamented shield used with an Oak Wreath for some of the 1858 and 1859 patters is much more elaborate in design than the shield introduced on the cents in 1860. Estimated Value $1,500 - 1,600.
